HOW TO OPTIMIZE YOUR INSTAGRAM BIO: 5 Key Elements You Need In Your Instagram Bio

Our Instagram should be set up in a way that takes our visitors on a journey. Our audience should be able to get all of the information that they need from us just by reading our Instagram bio, there should be no guessing games. I am going to be covering the 5 essential things that I believe every service based business should have in their Instagram bio.

How To Optimize Your Instagram Bio

  1. HEADSHOT

Your profile photo should not be your logo (unless you have a team behind you). This should be a photo of you, people want to know that there is an actual human behind the brand and they will feel more connected to us if they see our face.

2. EXPERT TITLE

In this are you should list what it is that you do. This is a great way to put your business front and center when our potential clients are searching for our expertise.

For example you will see that I have brand design studio as my expert title along with my name. So, when people search for brand design studio my profile will come up.

*pro tip: if your name is in your IG handle there is no need to have your name also listed in the “name” field, we have to be mindful of the limited characters that we have.

3. EXPERT STATEMENT

This is where you are going to let your visitors know WHO it is that you help specifically. Actually calling these people out will help with any questions that your visitor might have when they are on your page.

We work with the bold + badass - that is listed specifically in our bio so it will easily let someone know if they are in the right place or not.

4. THE RESULT

What are the results that your client’s get from working with you? I would really think about the goals that your ideal clients are trying to achieve and the solutions that they are looking for. This is really going to be the attention grabber and peak the interest of your visitor.

5. CALL TO ACTION (CTA)

Call to actions are important because our visitors won’t know that we want them to do something unless we tell them too. If you want them to contact you tell them and include the link. Do you want them to sign up for a program? Apply?

Having a clear call to action plays along with the idea of taking your visitors on a journey.
